Welcome to Beth Am Israel
Beth Am Israel is a Conservative synagogue of about 375 families located in the heart of the western suburbs (Main Line) of Philadelphia.
Thank you for your interest in Beth Am Israel. We are a spiritual home to many families, and are looking forward to helping you explore whether this may be the place for you. On this website you will find information on our active and dynamic synagogue, i.e. Saturday and Sunday minyanim with Shabbat Torah study, to Tot Shabbat, lecture series, Sunday and Saturday Hebrew School offerings, and even participation in a Jewish Community Sponsored Agriculture program called Hazon.
To arrange to speak with Rabbi David Ackerman, our president Joe Finkelstein, or Robin Kahn, our education director, or to visit our beautiful building, just call the office at 610-667-1651. If you have more general questions or concerns, the chairs of the Membership committee, listed below, would love to talk with you and help you make the important decision about which synagogue to belong to.
You are welcome to join us each Friday night at 6 for our inspiring acoustic Kabbalat Shabbat service. Rabbi David and Hazzan Harold play guitar, and many members bring their own instruments to enliven this unique service. Services on Shabbat begin at 9am with Torah study and other adult learning the main service begins at 10.
