09/17/2009 - L`shana Tova Tikateivu v`Teihateimu
Another of my favorite Hasidic tales for Rosh Hashanah involves the 19th century Rabbi, Mordecai of Nadvorna. One year, just before Rosh Hashanah one of his students sought permission to return home early. Reb Mordecai asked him, "Why are you hurrying?" The student responded, "I am a prayer leader and I must look into the mahzor and put my prayers in order."Reb Mordecai said to him, "The mahzor is the same as it was last year. It would be better for you to look into your deeds and put yourself in order."
The mahzorim are in order and in place. In myriad ways we are all working hard to put ourselves in order for the Days of Awe. On behalf of my entire family I want to wish us all k'tiva v'hatima tova. May we each be inscribed for a sweet, healthy, joyful 5770. Shana Tova
