It is a mitzvah to give and it is also a mitzvah to receive. That is the way of our community.
One of the best aspects of being a member at Beth Am Israel is the sincere caring that we extend to each other by engaging in g’milut hasadim (loving kindness). Putting that caring into action is the work of the G’milut Hasadim Committee, Caring Chavurah, and Shiva Support groups.
We arrange for:
- Meals including Shabbat dinners
- Spiritual conversation
- Shiva support
- Hospital visits
We invite you to become part of the G’milut Hasadim Committee support network by signing up to cook for meals, providing transportation, etc. To learn more about ways to give, join the Helping Hands Network of the G’milut Hasadim Committee at lotsahelpinghands.com.
Caring Havurah (Caring Circle)
Join the Caring Havurah and provide conversation, hospital visits, or other support to members in need. Please contact the Caring Havurah through the BAI office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our shiva support group assists members who have experienced a loss by providing a meal prior to shiva, assisting with readying a home for shiva, providing shiva platters, making sure members are available for minyan, and checking back in at the 30 day mark to see if another meal is desired. You can participate and volunteer for this mitzvah by contacting email@example.com.
If you would like to get involved in supporting others or are in need of support, please reach out to our G’milut Hasadim Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
