Beth Am Israel is…

…powered by the love, talent, and volunteerism of our members. We are seekers and learners. We are caretakers of our planet and of each other.  We are committed to harnessing our individual creativity, mindfully and spiritually, to build meaningful Jewish lives together.

We’re super nice 🙂

Tzedek, Tzedek, Justice, Justice

We hope you’ll be inspired to join us in our social justice work.  We can all do a piece for peace and justice. Click the plus sign to learn more.

Beth Am has affiliated with the Jewish Earth Alliance (JEA) to address climate change through policy advocacy and change. The last Sunday of every month, we hold a letter-writing session to write to our local leaders to fight for climate justice. Contact Phyllis Blumberg to get involved.

Beth Am Israel is affiliating with CeaseFirePA which works to end the epidemic of gun violence in PA and our country through education, coalition building, and advocacy.   BAI is also affiliated with Souls Shot, whose mission is to bring attention to and memorialize the lives lost due to gun violence. Portraits have the unique ability to call out the souls and profoundly affect those who see them. Contact Elisa Abeloff, Tali Perlman and Corinne Hackman to get involved.

Beth Am is affiliated with Fair Districts PA (FDPA), a nonpartisan citizens group working to stop gerrymandering. Please contact Jamil to get involved. Beth Am is also affiliated with Common Cause PA, which is dicated to protecting the right to vote.  Please contact Art Gershkoff to get involved.

Listen to our podcast where Jamil Khan interviews Rich Rafferty, the Montgomery County Lead of Fair Districts-PA here.

The Interfaith Group is a small working group formed with members of Beth Am Israel, Main Line Reform Temple, Zion Baptist Church, along with Rabbi David, Rabbi Strauss and Reverend Pollard. The group will conduct a series of conversations about race relations. Contact Marci Wilf to get involved.

With humility and hope, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors in the pursuit of liberty and justice for all.  In 2020, the Beth Am Israel Board approved a policy which encourages congregants to engage in activities sponsored by specifically approved organizations. Volunteer activities may include letter writing, rallies (virtual and physical), and bringing in speakers to build awareness. Learn more here
