What’s a Mashgiach, you ask?

A Mashgiach (Hebrew: משגיח, pl. משגיחים “Supervisor”) is a person who supervises the kashrut status of a kosher establishment.

As you know, we at Beth Am take great pride in the “heimisch” quality of our synagogue that comes from the community Friday night/Shabbat dinners and luncheons prepared lovingly by our own BAI members. But did you know that in order to prepare any snack or meal in our BAI kitchen, a trained BAI mashgiach is required to be on site?

Join me, Rabbi David Ackerman on Sunday, November 18 at 12pm to learn the origins, and basics of Kashrut, as well as how to apply the laws of Kashrut in our BAI kitchen.  Your training will allow you to serve as a Mashgiach at Beth Am, and will enable you to do a great Mitzvah for BAI!
